In the traditional way of information retrieval, as a cause of the information resources being lack of unified semantic description, users find it is difficult to demand the related resources, and it is difficult to achieve the sharing of semantic information resources. How to be with applications can understand the meaning of information resources, and how can the information resources semantic query be realized to enhance digital information resource utilization in accordance with the domain knowledge of the information resources, are the major challenges faced with the current information retrieval.Semantic Web is to provide a way out for these problems. The study of Semantic Web is mainly aimed to give all the resources on the Web exclusive identifier, to be a clear formal way to express information resources, to enable the network information are of semantic, and to be understood and dealt with by the computer, it can raise interoperability between heterogeneous systems, promote knowledge sharing, facilitate the interaction and cooperation between the computer and users.In this paper, the Semantic Web architecture and associated knowledge of Ontology are introduced, by analysis of the traditional method of information retrieval technology, in combination with the specific characteristics of Ontology, the architecture of retrieval-oriented Ontology inference in Semantic Web is proposed, and the ontology reasoning mechanism based on semantic similarity and relational property and also the case-based ontology reasoning mechanism are respectively described in detail. Then a retrieval-oriented ontology reasoning proto-system is primarily implemented. By using OWL as a descriptive language of Ontology, and with Jena as development tool, the ontology inference and retrieval in the field of specific knowledge is successfully realized. The experimental result reveals that the semantic information retrieval tool is executable, and the reasonableness of the model is verified.
