With the development of communication technology, all kinds of the existing networks are evolving towards the direction of high speed, broad band and integration. More and more people hope that they can communicate with each other between different networks at any time and any place. However, Rome was not built in a day. It is also a hot issue that how to perform mobility management between heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we design and realize a scheme of FHMIPv6 on the basis of researching some mobility management solutions. The work of this paper is a part of "Integration of Internet and Mobile Communication" project and the main work of this paper is as follows.Firstly, the background and research actualities of solutions to mobile internet's mobility management at home and abroad are summarized, and then some typical solutions are introduced. Following that, the principles of HMIPv6 and FMIPv6 are explained and the design concept of FHMIPv6 is given in detail, followed by two realization schemes.Secondly, composed of mobile node, mobile anchor point, access router and home agent, one of the proposed schemes is implemented on Linux system. This paper describes these entities implementation from aspects of modules, procedures, and method of communication. In addition, the paper gives comprehensive testing of the proposed scheme form aspects of protocol conformance, interruption of communication and file transmission. The testing result shows that the proposed scheme can give MIPv6 a better performance by adding the fast handover and hierarchical functions and can be used in the mixed WLAN and Ethernet networks. Finally, the work of this paper is summarized and the prospect of future work is proposed from aspects of payload balance, security issues and combining other technologies.
