With the worldwide transition from analog television to digital television, the new problem we are facing now is how to enable the television to receive both the analog signals and the digital signals in this special period of technical transition. Presently, most of the adopted solutions are watching the digital TV by the STB or putting the STB into the TV set to make a hybrid digital TV. But integrating the digital TV into an analog TV is not as easy as integrating the function of the STB into an analog TV. So, how to implement the hybrid digital TV becomes the key problem to be researched and solved.The main idea of this thesis is the development of the subject"the principle and implementation of iDTV based on MHEG-5 standard". The aim of the subject is to implement the hybrid digital TV with the MHEG-5 middleware standard integrated in it, whose key problem is to implement the portable layer of the MHEG-5 middleware, the hybrid tuner and to make and implement the IBOLink protocol.The thesis completes the following tasks around the above aim: Based on the research of the DVB-T system architecture and the MPEG-2 standards, we, in the light of the pSOS embedded operation system, bring forward the software system architecture based on the MHEG-5 middleware standard. A portable layer has been designed, which is highly portable, for the general software interface of the MHEG-5 middleware. And also we solve the problem of uniform management of the digital TV resources by designing the software architecture of the proxy model, and provide powerful module expansion ability.Implementing the designing scheme of the hybrid tuner software in the process of designing the portable layer, which enables the television to receive the analog signals and digital signals by only one tuner, and strengthen the reception performace on the software level. Studying and implementing the protocol and function of the IBOLink, whose key point is to use the IBOLink advanced command in the digital part by the interrupt to provide information for the analog part.This thesis has designed and implemented the highly commonly used MHEG-5 middleware portable layer, completed the software implementation of the hybrid tuner and the optimization of the performance. Due to the implemention of IBOlink protocol by IIC, the technical problems in the development of the hybrid digital TV can be successfully solved.
