Abstract/Summary:
With the growing maturity of IP technology and the increasing users' demands for business, the higher demands for management and operation of IP network are put forward so there is an urgent need that IP network should be managed by using the more effective and reliable IP network management system. This produces the following requirements: to developers of network management system, a test environment is needed for development and debugging; and to users of network management system, a tool is needed to test functionality and performance of network management system. So it is necessary to research and develop an IP network management simulation environment to meet these needs. At present, most of simulation environments to test network management system are in the form of single Agent based on the SNMP. This kind of simulation environments can only simulate network equipments to test network management system in the level of SNMP protocol and can not further test network management system in the network level. It also can not test other types of netwok management interfaces except for SNMP. A small number of simulation environments that are decleared to have implemented network simulation have bugs such as not supporting topology discovery, not being in strict accordance with the norms and so on.So on the basis of research on the similar simulation environments, according to the problems existing in the past research this article designs and implements a network simulation environment which can simulate multiple management interfaces, support topology discovery and obey rules. It solves the problems that is difficult to build the environment for testing network management system, complicate to operate and high cost.
