The coal, as one of the basic energy sources, has been contributing a lot for our economic development in a long-term that 70% of our energy consuming comes from burning the coal. It is taking up an dominant role in our country economy. However, the working condition for coal mine production is, generally speaking, sordid that always accompany with gas explosion, fire, flood, etc. It threats the miners' lifes severely. By analysing abundant of cases, it is found that the cause of various accidents has commonness. Besides poor investiment for safety facilities and low quality of workers, bad management to miners and weak monitor to operation processes are other two key reasonsAt present, there is a universal situation for mining industry that it is difficult to administer miners under ground and the exact worker amount is hard to record; managers can not control of miners distributing and working situation in time. To work out this issue timely, and to learn specific number of miners passing in and out effectively, this project develops a locating, supervising & rescuing system for mining staff. This system can track, inspect and locate miners woking under ground in real time, and the location and move area of each miner can be followed. In case of any accident happened, it can immediately search the information regarding personnel position, amount, and rescue route from the monitor computer. All these pieces of information are very valuable science evidents to conduct rescue activity. Meanwhile, by checking on daily log file, the work attendance of miners can be managed conveniently.This product, Miner Locating, Superivsing & Rescuing System, is featured of attendance recording, tracking & locating, rescuing, daily managing and some other comprehensive functions. It involves the latest high-end technology such as short-haul wireless communication, wireless locating arithmetic, wireless sensor network, geography information systems, etc. This is a system that consists of advanced technology, stabilized performance and professional design. This brand-new technology brings a rare chance to mining industry with safe production and effective daily management.The author participated in the work of system function research, framework design, product development and sample try-out. Based on above work, the study is summed up as following:First of all, briefly introduced the key technical area of this project; thereinto, highlighted the ZigBee technology from both physics aspect and MAC point of view. And then listed the theory of RSSI-oriented arithmetic, which is used by this system.Next, simply explained the framwork, funcations, conduct plan and some other points of this Locating, Supervising and Rescuing System. This system is combined with locating sites, wireless locating device, transfer interface, main line repeater, transfer cable, the ground server, lightning protector and so on. The under ground miner carries a wireless locating device which can send out a ID signal; this signal can be received by a locating site which is installed on the well wall; and all related information, e.g. personnel information, time and date, location, ect, are transferred via system network to and be received by the ground server; after information processing by the server, the under ground miner's log-in status, location, various enquiries, comprehensive management, data communion, and network transfer can be realized.In the end, it gave detailed statement of the system design; and analysed some difficulties and solutions which occurred during the system sofeware development. For instance, data collection channel bottle-neck, time synchronization of the ground and the underground, achievement method for locating device info W~3H(Who,When,Where,How), etc. Further more, it presented some major components of this system generally. At the very last, it discussed about the development orientation of this project as well as more application of this system.
