With the fast development of computer network, multimedia and information science, problems about copyright protection and integrity authentication of digital media have attracted more and more attention. Traditional security systems can only protect information in transmitting, but they can not meet the requirements under new conditions. Over the last decade, a lot of scholars put their interests in Digital Watermarking technology, which is an emerging technique to protect data security and intellectual property right. Watermarking technology in frequency domain is a trend in the future. As a new theory of time-frequency domain, wavelet transform is promising. Because of its local characteristic, the watermarking technology based on wavelet transform is the most active topic in digital watermarking. This paper focuses on wavelet domain watermarking technologies. The main content of this paper is organized as follows. In the first chapter, we give a brief introduction of the history of digital watermarking and the classification. In the second chapter, the framework of digital watermarking is presented, including the basic model, characteristics, the method of watermark creation, embedding and detection. And the chapter presents watermarking attacks. In the third chapter, fundamental principle of wavelet and lifting scheme is provided and analyzed. The fourth chapter proposes a wavelet-based improved watermarking quantification algorithm and presents some results of simulation. And in the last chapter, a wavelet-based self-adaptive algorithm based on Human Visual System (HVS) is improved and checked with simulation.
