Now CDMA has become a new technology focus in China mobile communication domain. The network scale increases gradually and the number of subscribers becomes more and more. So network engineers attach more and more importance to CDMA network optimization.Based on the CDMA system optimization, the article specifies some significant questions and points out improving the switch successful rate of the CDMA network is the most important question in the CDMA network optimization. The article mainly analyzes the switch faults and failure cause in CDMA network, presents the soft handover is the particular key technology in the CDMA network. The soft handover parameters configure which would influence the network, and gives reasonable advice on the optimization. Moreover, according to the switch characters of the CDMA system, style, policy, parameter configured and network optimization of hard handover and idle handover of IS-95 and CDMA2000 are introduced. In addition, the article describes the switch algorithm and the network optimization for multi-carrier area.With the analysis of the measured data from China United Telecommunication Corporation Yichun Branch, how to improve the successful rate of CDMA network handover is presented, which can give solutions to the handover failure.
