Along with the arrival of information society, LED Display System appears as a new information demonstration medium is applied extensively in many fields and has been paid more and more attention. But, the existing LED Display System in market is insufficient in many aspects, such as systematic function expansion and maintenance. The technology of embedded system is one of hot points in the field of computer in recent years, this thesis has good experimental and utilizable meanings because it leads the advanced technology into the design of LED display system to make it have high performance price ratio and be easy to upgrade or expand systematic functions.This paper has put forward a frame of LED Display System on the basis of embedded system and analyzed its systematic functions of hardware and software. The author takes C8051F020 which is fully integrated mixed-signal System-on-a-Chip MCU as the CPU of LED Display System and has designed hardware part of system, including power supply circuit, reset circuit, serial communication interface, temperature sensor circuit, real-time clock circuit, data buffer circuit, JTAG interface, scan and drive circuit, all these circuits constructs the hardware platform of system. In the part of scan and drive circuit, the paper has approached the principle of driving methods of LED and elaborated a method that with more units and combining synchronism with asynchronous to drive LED array, and analyzed the scanning sequence and frequency. The field of embedded real-time operating system is fully explored in this paper; the author choosesμC/OS-II to be the operating system of LED Display System and dissects its kernel and the technology of porting embedded operating system to different hardware flat. The successfully porting ofμC/OS-II to C8051F020 makesμC/OS-II to be the software platform of LED Display System. The startup code is designed according to the hardware platform, user's missions are designed based on the software platform, and application software in PC is designed to accomplish the abstraction and delivery of the data for displaying.Through debug, the author verifies the function of designing program of system in this paper. The LED Display System based on embedded system has many superior features such as low cost, high performance, short development cycle, both software and hardware are easy to upgrade and expand.
