Beyond all doubt, communication industries all are experiencing a huge change whether in nations or domestics. The emergence of the internet network is just changing our life deeply. The liberal agreement standard, the various of applied ways, the abundant and colorful contents, the enormous network which extend to thousands door, the cheap expense and etc. these characteristic attract communication network to adopt IP network structure, evolve toward to the new generation of communication network all the time.The PSTN network is going to evolve to NGN network, as well as GSM and 3G network is going to evolve to IMS network. In the farther future, we would be able to see the PSTN and GSM are in seamless union based on the IP stratification. While in these stirring changing progress, the SIP agreement is precisely important controlling agreement which profoundly participate into the evolution progress of network. SIP agreement is more and more obtain the favors of this field by right of its advantages such as simply, Easy to expand, convenient to realize and so on. It is also gradually becoming the important agreement in the territory of NGN and 3G multimedia subsystem, the supporting SIP customer-end software and intelligent multimedia terminal, as well as 3G agreement application serve and footswitch equipment emerged in endlessSIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a signaling protocol for Internet conferencing, telephony, presence leveraging, events notification and instant messaging. SIP and its extended applications are more and more popular in the communications field for its advantages, such as, flexibility and ready to implementation. It has been becoming an important protocol in NGN and 3G applications. There are a large of products in the market as both SIP clients and SIP proxies, which have, however, made it a challengeable issue in interoperating and conformance testing. SIP protocol conformance testing systems are promised to find problems related to interoperations, and will play a critical role in the network operation, SIP development and system debugging. In this thesis, we analyse the architecture of SIP protocol testing system in the view of implementation and present the design of a proto-type based on some open source software packages. The testing systerm is based on stacks such as oSIP, eXosip and RV32RTP, and developed running over Windows platform. The systerm consists of a control module, an input and output module, a rule processing module, a request-generating module, a torture testing module and a RTP/RTCP interface module. The proto-type tester coded by C is small in size, faster in excuting, compatible at source level, and scalable in extending. Configuring a script-like profile can extend the implemented functions, including SIP functionality testing and Torture testing.The tester has been used to testing three SIP proxy servers, one built for experiments by Partysip software, one provided openly by a domestic company Z, and the other maintained by an oversea company. The features of conformace of these servers are obtained clearly and readily.
