As a field industrial control network, the real-time performance of PROFIBUS influences the whole function of control system directly, so the analysis and study of it are of great importance. Especially, on the multi-masters PROFIBUS network system, the situation will be more complicated, and its analysis and research process will be more difficult.With typical distributed control system consisted of PLC and PROFIBUS, which is used commonly in automation engineering, as study background, the inside work in master station and the characteristics of PROFIBUS communication protocol are studied. So, comparing the research limitation of the past PROFIBUS system, the paper analyzed and studied PROFIBUS system characteristics of the real-time task scheduling and time parameters. Deeply, by the experiment the paper analyzed network and time character of multi-masters PROFIBUS network system. This paper focused on the TTR on the multi-master PROFIBUS system, which is the key parameter of influencing the network real-time performance. And an in-depth study for the method of setting TTR is done, simultaneity it offered the corresponding solution.At the end of the paper, it analyzed and studied to network behaviors and patterns of masters from different vendors, their network actions are seriatim described in the same PROFIBUS system. According to the different set to the target token rotation time, we analyzed these masters' time actions. Eventually, it has conclusions how the TTR value will be set by experimental method in a complex PROFIBUS network.
