In recent years, with the development of the digital signal processing technique, the results are coming into practical systems, and promote the new theory and applications. At the same time, it is important for the development of the image processing field. There are static and moving objects in the real world, in many situations, we are more interested in moving target, such as the supervision in banks and residence, the recognition of peccancy, the observation of radar, the guidance of missile, etc. So in the military, industrial and commercial fields, the prospect of the moving target auto-tracking system is very bright. In this dissertation, the algorithm of digital signal processing in common use is discussed. We discussed the advantage and the disadvantage of the algorithm and made a little improvement. With the software and the hardware working together, we accomplished the programming and debugging of the algorithm such as difference, binary, modeling, matching. And then, the result is translated into the instructions which the camera can read, and command the camera to move. In order to satisfy the demand of coming into the practical system, some algorithm is simplified and improved, and some codes are transformed from c language into assemble language. With that, the system can deal with the real time digital signals. The implemental of software is based on the EVM board with the core of the DM642 DSP.According to the practical measurement of this system, the performance of both hardware and software all meet with such requirements as stability, reliability and real time etc. And functionally, it is general to some extent.
