With the distinct development of technology of integrated circuit, the density and speed of chips have grown rapidly. The portable systems have more and more customers. Now, the low power consumption has become the 4th factor which IC designers must take into account with speed, area and testability. The embedded systems application become more and more extensive. So the research of low power architecture of embedded systems have been an important research direction of processor design in the future.Analyzing the energy model of digital CMOS circuit, we describe the low power design methods and their efficiency in the different level and the low power design methodology with the synthesis technique. We designed the syetem from the hardware and software. Finally we made the embedded system design on the AT89S51.It is proven that the system can reduce its power efficiently with these design techniques and the way in which we do the research is hopeful. The main contributions of this dissertation are given below: Hardware DesignWe presents a design composed by a power supply circuit which based on LM2596 DC to DC and a high performce, low power realtime chip which made by DALLAS company from USA. We gives practical connections also and Focus from hardware to achieve the required minimum power function. Software DesignBased on embedded real-time operating systemμC/OS-II example, we made use ofμC/OS-II core expansion interface to edit the free task Interface. We set up a sleep queue and made low power scheduling by it. So the design illustrate the use ofμC/OS-II core expansion interface for a low power system is feasible.The realization and the test of the system Poting theμC/OS-II on the platform of AT89S51,we modify the kernel code and we finally get the test result.In this paper, the research work for the future further study of low-power embedded system design technology has some significance.
