Computer and network development and application makes manufacturing in the "globalization", "network", "virtual" and "agile" direction. Enterprises need information sharing, professional collaboration to build world-class manufacturing and supply network. Web-based parts library system makes full use of network technology to maximize shared internal and external resources.In this paper, the main contents are design and implementation of web-based virtual library system, including overall system design, analysis and design of functional modules, system software testing and performance optimization.In examining the development and application of the parts library and virtual reality technology at home and abroad particularly in railway industry, the system was implemented by making use of B/S mode. Struts-Spring-Hibernate framework, computer network technology, network database technology, 3D CAD technology, virtual reality technology, PDM and other related technologies are researched in the paper. Web-based parts library is composed of four subsystems: product management subsystem, message management subsystem, information center subsystem and system management subsystem. The design and implementation of them are carried out. The system reaches initial design requirements after testing and optimizing performance.This system is different from other web-based systems for it's mainly designed for the railway industry, provides sleeper models and fittings, bridges models and fittings, has a good practicability.
