With the widely use of the high power AC-DC locomotive, low power factor harmfulness and harmonics pollution have become an increasingly urgent problem to be solve in the electrification railway system. So far the vehicle power compensation devices which are on the domestic AC-DC electric locomotives have almostly been isolated when the locomotive are on use. The reason was mainly due to vehicle power compensation devices perform unreliably, and also the lack of an effective device and diagnostic method. To solve these problems, a novel control system of power compensation has been developed, as well as a correlative test and diagnose platform for this control system. In this thesis, the development of test platform is studied deeply.The design is designed based on the C8051FXXX series SoC micro-controller and the complex programmable logic device (CPLD). Its main function is to fulfill the completely simulation the state which the locomotives system is running. By the serial port communication between the PC and the test bench, PC is realized the control of the test bench. So the design can perform the prosess of auto-testing the control plug-in board and interface plug-in board. The test results will be shown by the light of LED.The issues which are mainly discussed in the paper are as follows:The principle of the control plug-in board and the interface plug-in board are discussed, particularly the interface signals between the plug-in boards and platform.The designs of hardware system of platform are discussed in detail, as well as the designs of software system. The man-machine interface program on personal computer for the purpose of surveillance and control is designed based on the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC). Particullarly, the design of system software for micro-controller based on Small RTOS51 embedded operation system is introduced.In the end, programm for the test and diagnose of the power compensation control system are designed.
