AVS, the series of "information technology advanced Audio and Video Coding" standard abbreviation, is a domestic audio and video coding standard of the P.R. China. With the development of digital video compression technology, AVS has been developping and being used more and more widely.In this paper, the optimization approaches for AVS coding and its application based on DM642 are mainly studied. Thorough study and analyse are carried out over Many aspects ,such as choice of video standard , algorithm optimization , applications of Single Instruction Stream Multiple Data Stream technology basen on AVS encoder,the application of AVS video coding based on DM642 and algorithm optimization based on linear assembly.1. This standard applies in fields such as HDTV, high-density laser-digital storage media, Mobile multimedia. It includes two parts on its video: AVS-P2 applying in DTV and AVS-P7 applying in mobile multimedia. In this paper, key techniques between the two video standards are compared,and the result are analyzed and proved through experiment data,a necessity of an uniform video coding standard is put foreword.2. In its video coding, sub-pixels search method is applied to achieve more accurate motion description and higher compression efficiency, with higher complexity. In order to reduce the complexity, a rapid three step sub-pixels search algorithm based on that the distortion of a search point monotonously increase with increasing distance from that search point to the global minimum point (GMP),and the center-biased of motion vector is presented . Simulation results show that the new algorithm can reduce computational complexity more than 65% with little quality degradation.3. In this paper, the SIMD technology based on the application for AVS is promoted by reason of video coding characteristic.Through this technology, mainly time-consuming parts are soloved successfully.A new optimization algorithm on lumar interpolation is put foreward, which enhancing coding efficiency largerly without quality degradation, and algorithm optimization is done in other main parties.4. And also, a optimization coding project is designed based on DM642 chip for the application for AVS in Embedded Systems. A new optimization algorithm on half-interpolation is put foreward, which based on the linear assembly technology.Simulation results show that the new algorithm can reduce time of video coding largerly.
