In the digital video processing field, multiple moving target tracking is an important technique, and it is widely used in military and civil area. Recently, with the rapid development of electronics, especially the advent of the high performance digital signal processor, it is possible to realize the real-time processing of the video image, making it the dominating research field in image processing.The main processor of the developing platform for the system is TMS320DM642, the product from TI Corporation, and it is a professional digital signal processor for multimedia processing. This dissertation accomplishes the system design of the multiple moving targets tracking in the lab environment. By the serial communication protocol RS485, control command is sent to the camera's pan-tilt-system, making the moving target always lie within the camera's field of view. Specifically, this paper mainly consists of the following parts, such as image precondition, multiple moving target detection, obtainment, tracking by turns, and getting the command information of the camera's pan-tilt-system, and so on.At the beginning, this paper introduces the method of digital image's data acquisition, storage and presentation, meanwhile the dissertation puts forward the using mechanism of the digital image which suits the system. Secondly, this paper presents the algorithms used for multiple moving target detection and obtainment in detail. For the target detection part, the optical flow method and image difference method are introduced, and for the other, the main ways to processing are image binarization, centroid algorithm, moving target's feature obtainment. Later, the paper particularly studies the correlation-matching method, the way to track different moving targets by turns and the technique to get the command information of the pan-tilt system. At last, the text shows the system's configure and the way of every algorithm's implementation, moreover we validate the correctness of the design through practical experiments.According to the real-time characteristic of the system, this paper uses the assemble language's software pipeline technique to program the time-consuming part of the code. The pipeline technique is based on the particular inner structure of TMS320DM642. Through the pipeline skill, we greatly reduce the time needed for the program, and enhance the efficiency of the system. By the results of the experiments, the system accomplished by the paper can achieve the object that making a tracking of multiple moving targets by turns.
