| With the development of mobile video services,the mobile terminal devices are widely used,such as mobile telephone,PDA etc. So high performance video services are deeply needed and are becoming a new focus. Video on demand for mobile network is one of the real applications in that video service. People hope to carry on VOD with guaranteed quality through with wireless network. How-ever, there is also a great challenge for multimedia especially video content's ef-ficient delivery with limitation of mobile network which is characterized by bandwidth variation, high error rate, etc. In this thesis, the key techniques on video content delivery over mobile network are studied. As a result, the target of the thesis is design and implementation of video on demand system for mobile network.Firstly we mainly study development status of VOD and video standard in the world. In general, the following work has been fulfilled in this paper:Secondly lots of work has been done on the design and implementation of Video compression .Motion estimation costs most of time in video coding under H.264 standard, Although it can reduce a lot of time by fast search algorithm, it is very complex. In order to provide high video sequences and achieve high speed, I improve the motion estimation algorithm in video coding part. So it removes ex-tra computation and improves search speed.Then a plan of mobile video on demand transferring has been designed and implemented based on H.264 standard. It uses client/server structure, server achieves H.264 encoding for QCIF format Video stream; after encoding, the server uses RTP protocol transferring encoded H.264 data to client through net-work, then client decodes the H.264 data and shows the image.Finally a media player has been developed to decode H.264 video on Sym-bian OS based on mobile terminals. This player has been verified on Nokia 7610 mobile phone. |
