The main purpose of this thesis is to put forward a new e-mail system.Concerning the present service condition and the requirements of different user in e-mail system;such as,the individual,the company,and the universities that are establishing/setting up their "digital campus". In my opinion,the universities are short of self-created software resources,thus I intend to put forward a new e-mail system in my thesis.Some shortcomings in practical/actual using of the most commonly used e-mail system by different users will be pointed out in my thesis.In order to improve this condition,and in the meanwhile,to maintain the functions and using habits of the traditional e-mail system,a new e-mail system with more functions are designed by me.The e-mail system has now become one of the most popular and common application processes.As the regular mail,e-mail is an asynchronous communication media,people can send and receive mail on convenient time,it's not necessary for them to coordinate with others' plan. E-mail system,in general,has three main components:the user agent,mail server and the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol,which formed the core of the e-mail system.The supporting theory of the new e-mail system is SOA(Service Oriented Architecture).The concept of e-mail was reinterpreted and expanded in the new system.In SOA,service is the leading framework,rather than principle and technology.The realization is Web-based database which make it easier to maintain data,the functions are more powerful and more expanded.The characters of new e-mail class were designed with abstract means,using Object-Oriented technology,and mail is the core of the research;mapping it to a database record in the table to achieve DBMS efficient management.From the point view of software structure system,the new e-mail system can be divided into three architectures:the presentation layer,the application layer, and the data layer.It uses the HTTP protocol and the DBMS special-purpose protocol to realize mail receiving and dispatching.From the user's point of view,the new e-mail system still shares the operations and functions of the traditional e-mail system,to ensure the transparency when the users are using it.At the same time,the design of the new e-mail system enhance the convenience,flexibility and easy maintenance for the mail users,this system give full consideration to the needs of the users, thereby,enhancing customer's satisfaction.From the aspect of provision of services to the structure,the new e-mail system is clear and simple structured and practical technologically and economically.This paper focuses on the architecture design of the new e-mail system.The key is to describe the e-mail system using the new model and hope to extract a software framework which is appropriate to general campus information technology.The new system is designed and deployed on lightweight J2EE.It deals with basic business mainly on JSP technology and the Servlet technology.In the process of project planning and implementation,using UML to describe documents,and integrated it with the whole process,the new e-mail system realize the iterative and incremental development of the project.
