The third generation mobile communication converges mobile servers and internet highspeed broadband services, it is able to suppor multimedia services and is suitable to varient mobile environment. Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co. Ltd has the long-term research and development on TD-SCDMA system standard and products. The rapid development of mobile communication services raise a higer requirement to hardware platform of network element in TD-SCDMA system, it was required to be able to support multiple new services and increase process capability as soon as possible, together with the reduction of time and cost for redevelopment. For current hardware platform architecture, it has to redevelop the blade to meet these requirements. But the long time and high cost can not meet the requirement.After discussed the present market situation and practice fact of hardware platform of Datang Mobile, this thesis brings forward a new implement scheme using AMC Carrier to build the IP based TD-SCDMA equipment. This thesis describes the detail design and implementation of AMC Carrier. At the hardware part, the control process, AMC interface, ethernet switch, IPMC management and power .etc function was-designed and implemented module by module. The designs of using hotswap controler to handle the AMC interface power and the three class clock function on Carrier are new to current hardware platform. At the software part, an new AMC Carrier management software was implemented which can enable the AMC module to be adopted by ATCA system management architecture.AMC Carrier is a new kind of ATCA blade. When diverse AMC modules were inserted, it can replace and upgrade one or more other ATCA function blade. The technique of AMC Carrier can much enhance the flexibility and expansibility of ATCA hardware platform, shorten the redevelopment period and save the cost. If this research result was applied to TD-SCDMA network construction, it should have extremely enhanced the competitiveness of company products and will meet the fast develop requirement of 3G mobile services in a certain long period.At the end of this paper, the key performance of AMC Carrier was tested. The test results of AMC Carrier design have been proved to meet the design requirement. Because of the limit to time and condition, the functon of AMC Carrier management software is not perfect. Since then, the AMC Carrier management software shall be enriched, the AMC Carrier evolution in future new network architecture and the subsequent MicroTCA technique shall also be studied further.
