The USB technology has enjoyed a rapid development with its outstanding features such as high-speed, reliability and universality in the last decade, and has been applied in more and more areas, even in the embedded area in recent years. The paper is to establish high-speed serial communication link between the DSP processor arrays using USB technology. It introduces the developing method and the material actualization means of the USB host and device hardware system, which is composed with Philips' ISP1761 and TI's TMS320VC5416, and software system.Firstly, the USB2.0 specification is analysed in this paper, including the structure of USB system, basic concept of USB communication and transmission methods and so on.Secondly, the actualization means of the hardware system is introduced, including the choosing of the USB controller chip, the hardware scheme and actualize method of every segment.Finally, the actualization means of the software system is explained. The paper shows the structure and function of USB host and device software system, and introduces the debugging methods and the analysis of test results of software using CCS, Bushound and Windriver.
