The traditional filtering method is based on Fourier analysis theory, but such method which is designed according to the Fourier frequency characteristic of signal couldn't show the frequency information of local time slice. Wavelet analysis has the characteristic of localizable time and frequency and overcomes the defects of traditional fourier analysis. So it greatly expands the analysis ability to signal, and is recognized as high-tech in the signal processing field and attracts multi-disciplinary attention, and has been widely used in many areas. Wavelet filtering has been greatly developed as an important application branch of wavelet theory which indicates a new method of filtering. But because of the large computation, the method to do wavelet transform by using pure software can not meet the increasing demands for real time processing to signal, so it is hoped to be achieved by hardware circuit.For those reasons above, the relative theory of wavelet transform and principle of wavelet filtering are first introduced in this paper, then the hardware architecture and the method of realization of wavelet threshold filter based on the Xilinx FPGA is proposed, which adopt the pleated sheet structure of multiplier and is fit to frame data. Finally, the model of each module and the whole design are set up by either hardware describe language or schematic. The simulation and correctness of the design are verified in ISE environment. The realization of wavelet threshold filter using the hardware circuit can meet the requirement of real-time signal processing.
