In our area of information technology, many traditional instruments can't satisfy the need of people for information. It has become one of the hottest topics in the development and application of instrument industry that how to extensively employ the hard and soft resource in Internet. Network based instruments come into being in this environment. In this article, two types key technology of network based instrument are mentioned: the automated meter LAN interface technology research and ZigBee wireless networking technology in the Instrument.In the LAN interface technology Direction, this article made a research on the achievement methods of the TCP/IP of Modbus industrial control protocol, designed and realized a RS-485 to Ethernet interface, with a Modbus protocol, and verified examples with the chemical industry network of instruments. We use the TI's 16-bit MSP430 as a single-chip MCU, running the uIP protocol stack, the chip card using CS8900A.In the ZigBee wireless communication technology, this article detailed study of the ZigBee key technology and based on the context of the theory design of a ZigBee development platform. This platform use MSP430F1611 as a control system MCU chip, use the chip CC2420 to achieve 2.4GHz wireless communication.This platform use RS-232 Serial Bus connected to the PC and configure the MSP430 MCU.
