The most important aspect in the course of constructing two-way CATV networks is to make full use of resources already in the networks. From the view of technology, the best way is to use cable accessing technologies, which are able to provide IP data services over cable without any interference of conventional TV broadcasting. ADoC (Asymmetric Data over Coax) is one of these solutions.ADoC uses the similer protocol stack with WiFi both in PHY layer and MAC layer as OSI defined. It can provide up to 2-3Mbps link rate for each user. The only overhead is to add an access point for each district and a modem for each user. The solution is very suitable to the constructing of two-way CATV networks in China. ADoC AP is used to provide accessing service for the users in the district. Fixed in the huge networks, ADoCAP should be managed and maintained remotely, and as a result, it is asked to support the popular network management protocols like SNMP (Simple Networks Management Protocol) and WBM (Web Based Management).Upon the deep research on ADoC, the paper designs and implements the software of ADoC AP. Running on the ARM9-Linux platform, the software implements the WBM, and also provides a programming interface for SNMP. Duaring the implementation of ADoC AP, the paper also brings forth, validates and makes utility of a new technology called EXAC (Enhanced XML and CGI), which is running for embedded web server and gives the information structured in XML to the requesting browser. The technology can greatly simplify the design of WBM software and increase the robustness of embedded network devices.
