The development of Computer, semiconductor, microelectronic and radio technology has given birth to the radio frequency identification technology. With the support of the government and commercial purposes, it applies from military to civilian, from closed systems to open systems. The characteristic of RFID makes it infiltrating to various fields and has taken in a major impact. The RFID technology's principle, system components, and application status in and abroad are introduced firstly. Then the paper describes the feasibility and the technical advantages of employing RFID to system of locomotive scheduling. In the main part of the article, it records author's experiences in developing of the application. And the article gives a generic, multi-layered and modular system architecture which satisfies the practical requirements of mine industry. The system is divided into four levels, namely, access control layer, edge control layer, intermediate services layer and application layer. In the access control layer, the lowest layer, the article describes in detail the reader structure, standard interfaces, the external circuit and its I/O expansion realization, and also describes reader software development models and communication protocols. The intermediate two tiers are the core of the framework. The purpose of this two relatively independent is to unify and standardize the application of using RFID in the manufacturing enterprises, and these two layers will be developed into a standards middleware to be reused in other systems. The system integrates GIS system as the core of locomotive surveillance and control .GIS gives expression of underground railway location and topology. In the study of track's connection relation, this paper presents a special kind of data structure named TramRoad, it is a reasonable description of the track topological relations. Based on TramRoad structure, this paper describes the path finding, traffic scheduling and the key algorithm of themThis research will promote the automatization and informatization of coal mine manufacture, and is of theoretical and practical value.
