With the development of network and embedded technology, audio and video coding technology, the embedded network video monitoring system has become the development direction of video monitoring. The emergence of IPv6 resolves the problem of IP address resource shortage, improves the speed of network transmission and the quality of data transmission, and provides efficient and feasible scheme for secure network transmission. The embedded video monitoring system based on IPv6 will become the mainstream of video monitoring field.The thesis introduces the research and implementation of embedded network video monitoring system based on IPv6. The hardware platform employs double-CPU, taking EP9315 and GO7007SB as core. Audio and video signal collected by system teminal is compressed by compression chip GO7007SB. Then the compressed data is stored or transmitted through IPv6 network under the control of EP9315. Users can accomplish remote monitoring and control the system.The thesis analyzes the development status and trend of the video monitoring systems and embedded technology. It discusses the core technologies of monitoring system, e.g. the characteristics of the ARM processor, comparison and selection of video encoding standard, the advantage of IPv6 protocol and Multicast. It elaborates the design of hardware platform and module function of the system, analyzes the implementation process of driver program in Linux, and implements haredware driver programming. Finally, the thesis describes collecting, encoding and compressing of video data in detail, and mainly analyzes implementation of IPv6 Multicast.The MPEG-4 encoding standard has high compression rate, strong network compatibility, and employs special hardware compression chip to accelerate the process of MPEG-4 encoding. And the IPv6 protocol provides good support to multicast, QoS and network security. It will well satisfy the user's requirement about real-time and security of data transmission in the IPv6 environment.
