High Level Architecture (HLA) is a new generation of distributed interactive simulation (DIS) architecture. It aims to improve the interoperability of various simulation applications and the reuse of simulation resources. In this thesis, HLA is applied to the simulation of ship motion control system, as well as, we distribute the simulation task to the nodal computer of different network. In this dissertation, firstly the history of DIS is been introduced, and then the basic knowledge of the technology HLA is referred. Furthermore, the six types of management services of HLA are discussed, at the same time, the time management is researched while the solution to the time synchronization is presented. In order to implement the function of the distributed simulation, which hasbeen divided into four parts including ship motion, ship motion control, oceancondition and sail department. The mathematical model of entity must be established, including the four-degree-of-freedom ship maneuvering motion model with wind, wave and current, the design of ship course controller, as well as the mathematical model of ocean condition based on spectrum analysis. Apply Object-Oriented programmer method to design HLA federates framework codes, so as to make the simulation object model depart from RTI runtime environment support. At last, we debug the program of developed federates on the software platform of pRTI1516, and do the simulation trials of ship maneuvering and ship course keeping separately.
