The Advanced Diesel Locomotive Controller is the kernel of the control part of Locomotive's electrical transmission system. Below will introduce it's hardwares, configurations, main function and the controlling principle.It adopts main transmission and DC auxiliary transmission. To optimize diesel engine and electrical transmission's performance, Many of locomotives employ advanced diesel locomotive controller-4(ADLC-4 for short) to ensure safe and steady running and easy operation and maintenance of the locomotive. It is a multifunctional real-time microprocessor control system with Intel 80C196CPU as its processor. Tests show that the locomotive with application of ADLC-4 has excellent performances, accurate and timely failure diagnose as well as pleasant display. There is a cool backup (manually operated) of the main functions of ADLC-4 microprocessor control system, which ensures safe and steady running of the locomotive.The control unit of the locomotive controls main transmission; It's plugboards are divided into control board of traction alternator excitation and a stand-by, control board of DC auxiliary generator excitation and a stand-by. Their main control functions are: constant power control, dynamic braking control, auxiliary alternator control, field weakening control, brake extension control, contactor logical control, vigilance control, RS485 network communication control, transmission of control parameters and status parameters. Each control board has respective on-off signal I/O interface, analog signal I/O interface, frequencies I/O interface and sensor interface accordingly. They accomplish the control functions accordingly through these interface circuits. The control boards process network communications through RS485 serial bus 1, implementing resource share of control parameters and status parameters, and transmits these parameters to the display, on which, the parameters will be real-time displayed.
