In recent years,electronic technology has developed quickly,and has changed the status of technology.In the industrial control area,FCS(Fieldbus Control System) has emerged as the times require.Control functions spread to the field.WorldFIP is one of the fieldbus standards.It conforms to the IEC physical layer standard.WorldFIP provides with dual-media redundancy and time-critical transmission mechanism.In this paper,characteristics of the Discrete I/O device based on WorldFIP are presented.This module connects WorldFIP fieldbus with traditional discrete I/O devices.Working principle and the software/hardware development are discussed.The discrete input circuit is detailed and thoroughly. The module is based on ARM9 platform,which supports the soft PLC virtual machine.Embedded system technology is applied and an embedded operation system VxWorks is transplanted onto the module,communication between engineering station has been realized and a Modbus Test software is developed.On the other hand,the communication Between the I/0 Module and other WorldFIP device,conventional discrete device is discussed too.
