The Modeling And Implement Of Journal Network Operation System

With the development of Information Technology based on Computer Network, the automatic management of journal editor business has gotten a strong technological foundation. As a professional information collection, processing, production and distribution industry, the periodical industry should make full use of the convenience brought by information technology, in order to improve the level of automatic management. Nowadays, the editorial business dealing, the publication and distribution business dealing, the support of management decision and the digital journal, which are all based on network platform, have become the most important issues for those journal editing and publishing sector's leaders who are forethoughtful.As a core business dealing system of journal publishing department, journal network operation system needs to achieve a series of functions, such as online submission, online sending, online review, online dealing with review result, online typesetting, fee management, user management, online information index and document tracking, based on computer network. Though these functions, a private virtual working space will be provided to all users including submission user, editorial user or review user, and the Network Office will be realized, leading to the goal of Network-based management and operating of journal. In this paper, a model of system operating management is proposed based on the demands of journal network operating. The correct and rationality of the model are proofed based on the Petri-net and Workflow Technology. Based on the analysis of the construction of journal network operating system and the flow of manuscript dealing, a design of the system is proposed and modeled based on UML technology, providing a solid basic theory to successfully implement the journal network operation and management system. Finally, based on above research results, a practical journal network operation and management system is realized by using J2EE and MVC technology.The functions of the journal network operation and management system based on the research result of this paper are completed, including all works from manuscript submission to publishing. The system greatly increases the number of paper submission and improves the editorial office efficiency. Since the system is very easy to operate, manage and maintain, it has already been used in more than twenty journals, such as Journal of Wuhan University of Technology (Information and Engineering). The journal network operation and management system has greatly promoted the information construction and development of journal industry, and also played good social benefits.
