A Study On The Wayfinding Theory-Based Network Users' Information Browsing Behavior

Browsing is a fundamental human behavior,With the coming of hypertext information organization, it is a behavior patter the network users commonly engaged in.On the one hand,users can employ traditional linear manner to browse information in order;On the other hand,they can following connection between nodes to browse in no-linear manner.Although hypertext is convenient to users' browsing information,there are some problems with it.One of the most important problems is "lost in the cyber-space".When users browse network information,they don't know where they are,how they reach to destination and what their topic is due to jump between nodes frequently.These lost problems have a terrible influence on network users' information browsing behavior and the usability of hyper system. Currently,from view of technology,there are some researches on providing website navigation help to solve getting lost in network.But as far as users' cognition,studying on their browsing behavior is lack.Because of these reasons,this article bases on the wayfinding theory,takes Dell China Website as the background,uses observation method,interview method,drawing method and so on,captures user's case of browsing Dell China website,It tries to focus on the feature of users' cognition to analyze their browsing behavior.First of all,this paper analyses browsing behavior's cognition characteristics in the information processing,decision generation and decision execution.And then,it puts forward goal-based network users' information browsing behavior model and user's browsing path types which are influenced by some cases and some difficulties users is subject to.At last,basing on the researches of users' browsing behavior,it gives some suggests on the information quality,appearance and construction on the website design for the future.Researching on network users' information browsing behavior from view of cognition,it not only can hold users' mentality and mechanisms act more well and truly,but also reduce users' lost cases in the cyber-space and improve their browsing efficiency.
