| China' news industry has gone through tremendous development since the opening-up policy was implemented 30 years ago.English-language programming on local radio and television stations throughout China has evolved from what we can describe as a preliminary stage,an exploration stage,and now a developing stage. International events hosted by different cities,such as the Beijing Olympics,the Guangzhou Asian Games,and the Shanghai World Expo,have brought new challenges, as well as new opportunities for English-language programs.Although local media's English-language programming has been developing for over two decades,there is still much room for improvements,such as communication effectiveness,communication methods,team-building,etc.If these issues are not solved properly,they are very likely to hinder the sustainable development of English-language programming,maybe even jeopardizing its survival.In order to offer plausible solutions,this paper studies the practical case of radio and TV English-language programming in Guangdong province.It analyzes its' overall situation,and researches new strategies from the perspectives of publicity mechanisms, management systems,communication tactics,marketing,etc.It is expected to become a reference for local radios and televisions to improve English-language programming operations. |
