With the rapidly expand of the microcomputer control technology, the power electronic technology and so on, the prime mover simulation system of power system transforms into inevitably the trend of development from the traditional analogue control to the numerical control. At present, the electric circuits of analogue control are existing majority in prime mover simulation system, which is affecting system's function to a certain extent system,there exist some problems such as complex structures , vulnerability to environmental temperature and weak anti-jamming capabilit. The remote control technology also already obtained the broad application in the electrical power system because of the computer network technology's development. It is a kind of inevitable trend of development that the management of dynamic simulator laboratory applies the synthesis automation control mode. So the communication protocol is the control key. The MODBUS protocol is a general purpose language applying on the electronic controller's, which has many merits such as openness, easily to realize, the extension to be good, user scope broad and so on. It is applied as one of most widespread protocols in the industrial control.Based on above several considerations and the union actual research work, the paper proposed the theory and the technology of prime mover dynamic simulation. The thesis established the general mathematical mode of generator prime mover system that satisfies the dynamic characteristic of prime mover simulation system and the versatile coordinated unification condition based on the microcomputer control and the hardware and the software. The paper analyzed the governor simulator's function and the characteristic which takes Intel80C196KC as the core chip. Analyzed and designed the F-03 motive system installment hardware circuit including a main return route, the operates return route, the microcomputer control circuit, the serial communication electric circuit, the hardware anti-jamming electric circuit's choice and so on. Then the paper used the MCS-96 assembly language to compile the system software and realized the function according to the new motive system simulator. The communication between upper position machine and microcomputer conforms with MODBUS protocol. The system adopts communication style of serial asynchronous and half-duplex. VisualBasic6.0 is adopted to develop the soft of upper position machine which realizes showing of all kinds of state of system system's command control, the system parameters installation, the operational factor monitoring, the condition demonstration and so on, realized the remote control and further enhanced the motive system's automatization.Finally, the results of the experiment and the scene debugging proved that the design of the system's hardware and software was feasible.
