Subliminal channel is a special modern information hiding technique developing with the public-key cryptography, which is widely used in many practical applications, such as military intelligence, electronic commerce and so on. Because of its good imperceptivity and high security, subliminal channel has been arousing more and more attention from the academic circles all over the world and some involved departments of government in recent years. Subliminal channel is a covert channel, constructed in an applied public-key cryptosystem, such as digital signature, authentication etc. Both of the subliminal message and the subliminal channel can not be discovered or be obtained by any unauthorized receivers, except the direct receivers. In this thesis we make a comprehensive study on subliminal channel that conclude the construction, the free model, the free method and detection method of the subliminal channelFirst, our thesis introduces the concept and classification of information hiding technique, and then reviews the history and some related basic knowledge of subliminal channel.Second, we propose a security threshold subliminal channel based on elliptic curve cryptosystem which can not only provide the merits of threshold scheme, but also those of the elliptic curve digital signature scheme. This scheme can ensure the security of a group to share secret message in the insecure and instable environment.Third, we have conducted more thorough research on the free of subliminal channel. The content includes summarizing several free methods of subliminal channel; according to comparative analysis of those methods' advantages and disadvantages, finding out the flaws existing in the present free model; improving the existing free model for designing an interactive subliminal-free protocol in ElGamal digital signature, which completely avoid all the known subliminal channels implementing by random session key and signature protocol flaws, by mixing random session key and introducing a warden completely participating in signature procedure.At last, we focus on the detection of subliminal channel. Because of the high security of cryptosystem, the subliminal channel detection research is still a challenging issue at present. The research results about subliminal channel detection are very absence. After analyzing the detectability and detection model of subliminal channel, a width-band ELGamal digital signature subliminal channel detection algorithm is proposed in the thesis, which is based on the discrete logarithm security of bits. This algorithm uses the part of subliminal message, leaked by the discrete logarithm security of bits, to find the probability distribution difference between the subliminal message set and the session key set, helping to distinguish the subliminal communication from the normal communication, and consequently judge whether subliminal communication exists between the signer and the receiver.
