In modern communication system,RS code has turned into standard error correcting and coding unit as outer code and become widely used because of its advantage of correcting sudden errors and random errors.In actual channels,RS code needs to be applied in combination with interleaving and scrambling in most cases to deal with sudden errors.In this paper,error controlling and channel coding are introduced.Galois Field(GF) and the theory,concept and application of Reed-Solomon code are illustrated.The theories of RS encoder and decoder are researched,and several kinds of encoding and decoding methods are detailed in this paper.The hardware configuration and FPGA implementation of RS(255,239) encoder and decoder are completed by the combination of RS code and interleaving,at the same time,the design theory and hardware implement of RS coder and decoder are analyzed in detail.The main content of this paper has undergone the full simulational verification both on algorithm and hardware configuration.The results verify that the design is a complete and feasible one.
