The development of technology has changed education from its traditional way to nowadays electronic way to satisfy people's different needs.Since there are various education resources,e-learning systems have proposed metadata and ontology to organize the education resources,and set up a large number of metadata standards such as SCORM,Dublin Core,IEEE LOM,ARIADNE,IMS and so on, and form metadata hierarchical categorization architecture in grid.With the development of network and the constant popularity of e-Learning,there is the need of e-Learning infrastructure to provide better,making better e-Learning services.Grid is a distributed scheme solving various problems to allow resource sharing, virtual organization,and good inter-operation,while web e-Learning only provides learners with information,instead of providing real experience,such as experiment, interaction and so on.With the continuous development of grid technology,people gradually realized the advantages of grid environment.In the e-Learning educational process,using the Grid provides users with collaborative learning environment,the use of heterogeneous resources,the use of powerful computing capacity and storage capacity to improve the quality of services.Grid e-Learning can be made to achieve not only the sharing of information,but also the effect of sharing resources.The most critical issues of e-Learning Grid environment is information retrieval. In addition to general information retrieval,since the grid is a geographically dispersed facilities,and as a result of changes in organizational changes occurred in the virtual organization,more retrieval problems bring to the grid e-Learning Ontology research.In this paper,semantic retrieval methods are applied to e-Learning grid environment.It is much easier realize ontology reasoning,as well as more accurate respons to users' retrieval request using ontology.We no only build the ontology about learning content but also about user and grid,through which relates the e-Learning resource and grid,and enchances the effect of grid in e-Learning. Specific approach is to analyse existing ontological modeling approaches,seven-step method and other methods etc.and sum up them to reach the GEOMM(Grid e-Learning Ontologies Modeling Method).Based on this,we proposed the Architecture of the e-Learning based on Grid.Then,we gave hierarchical metadata model.According to the above analysis,using Prot(?)g(?) ontology modeling tool,we build the ontologies,DataType Property and Object Property of the e-Learning grid. Then we can get OWL automatically by Prot(?)g(?).Refer to the existing framework for semantic retrieval,combined with the characteristics of the grid,we established framework for semantic retrieval of grid e-Learning.Finally,we use Jena Ontology tool to achieve Semantic Retrieval based on e-Leaming Grid.
