With the rapid evolution of modern medical imaging technologies, the images which represent the human physiological or abnormal status become richer and more detailed. Meanwhile, in the area of clinical diagnosis, treatment, scientific research and education, etc, it is of great significance to describe the wealthy hidden information of medical objects in 3D form. Medical image visualization means to process medical objects with spatial property in the wealthy hidden information of medical objects in visual form, utilizes the wealthy hidden information of medical objects in an illustrative, vivid and effective manner by visualization. It has bright future of application in the above-mentioned area. Study of medical image visualization is one of the hotspot of scientific research in the world recently. The first of this paper discussed the medical image data access issues in the PACS system. On the basis of DICOM3.0 standards and its application, such as Computed Tomography,Magnetic Resonance Imaging,Ultrasonic Imaging technology, paper was focused on the CT Window Technique and the pseudo color Technique. Then in the part of medical image visualization, we Summarize the rules for the medical visualization process on the analysis of the five fundamental algorithms. At last, a realization of the Medical Image 3D Reconstruction System was put forward. A practical system has been developed based on the Marching Cubes algorithm, as well as the Visualization Toolkit, the interface and architecture are integrated by VC++. Now the system achieves these functions below: data reading, image pre-processing, image browsing, 3D reconstruction.
