The development and testing process of virtual instruments have a great deal of testing information. If this information can be managed and analyzed effectively, it will be very useful to guiding virtual instrument's design and development. But up to now, the management, based on the labors, have taken the managers a lot workload, wasted a lot of manpower, and made the management abnormal. By the accumulation of testing information, old management took a lot of trouble to find, update and maintain data information with a low efficiency, poor confidentiality.Virtual instrument is different from traditional hardware-based instruments. It is composed of computer hardware resources, modular instrument hardware and software which are used for data analysis, communication process, and graphical user interface, that is"software is instrument". The hardware devices, virtual instrument and vibration testing experiment table constitute a virtual instrument testing system. Hardware devices include signal conditioning device, data acquisition card, sensor, testing object and so on. To develop a set of experiment management information system for virtual instrument laboratory, the paper synthetically uses virtual instrument technology, management information technology, computer technology and database technologyIn order to resolve the above-mentioned problem, this paper introduces the designing and developing of the virtual instruments management information system based on the mode of Client/Server. The mainly function is to establish and manage the information of virtual testing experiments, including information adding,searching,deleting,modification,analyzing and printing. The management system offers a friendly operation interface that makes it possible for the common user to manage all the information of the virtual instrument testing information.The database has been successfully developed based on SQL Server in server. By the analysis of the virtual instrument testing data type and source, two types of tables are created in the database. One is the type of base tables that store the fundamental information that can be managed by uniform coding. Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining and updating them. The other tables are dynamic data tables which are used to manage the testing information by every experiment. Also all the relation between tables and the attributes of each table in the database have been described. Application programs have been created by Visual C++ in client to operate and manage testing information. To meet the needs of users, the application programs mainly have four modules: virtual instrument management module, testing data management module, human resource management module and system manage module. Then each module is divided into several parts to scientifically manage testing information of virtual instruments.
