Providing video on demand service over the Internet in a sealable way is a challenging problem. The traditional play mode of video frequency is based on Client/Server(C/S) concentrated network mode, facing the Problems of restrained network bandwidth. For example, the over balance of the media server stress, the restrained number of the clients, the worse playing effect of the programs. The technology of P2P breaks the traditional C/S mode, each node in the net is peer to peer. Each node acts as server which provides service for other nodes, as well as regales on service which other nodes offered, which commendably resolve the bottle-neck Problem of the network bandwidth.Resorts to its expansibility and high resilience to failure and haleness, the technology of P2P has developed swiftly and violently, and gradually applies to the field of video frequency technology. This paper proposes the architecture for video on demand streaming(GSS) in peer-to-peer environment, which is able to implement the large- scale VOD applications with the lesser cost of server. Each node of the system adopts the "invisible storage technology" proposed in this article that can store data in long term and count it' s data in MDL(Media Data List, a list of media data); In GSS each Peer node has a fixed-size FIFO buffer to cache the most recent content of the video stream it receives and can provide service to subsequent reached proper peer nodes. It has the following properties:1) It utilizes a distributed control protocol to support the joining and leaving Processes of Peer nodes in a scalable way,and when new node is joining the net,the server will consult the NSF, in order to find the partner nodes, efficiently and accurately. 2) The client in PC adopt the proposed "invisible storage technology" that not explicit in the occupation of free disk space, and can store a large number of streaming media files, so that the node can provide data services for some of the node in the future, and avoid the data repetitive delivery.3) Introduction of the history segment log file NSF about high-speed network on user node,it can help users find the network segment where the partner nodes had exchanged data with user nodes in high-speed.In general, those network segments are very closer to user node in physical distance,so that this avoids long-distance transmission of the media data and save the bandwidth of backbone network.4) In the handheld wireless devices, the client software does not include the storage and management modules and the data services module to other node, in consideration of the limit of the storage and the resources of the bandwidth of the handheld wireless devices.
