In the current background of rapid growth of internet, e-commerce and e-government and other social activities in the continuous development of information technology, information hiding as a new information security technology already became a hot research spot of the information technology domain.Digital steganography is an important branch of information hiding, which takes use of the redundancy of human visual, auditory and the multi-media digital media statistical redundancy, makes the secret information embedded into public digit media by certain code or encryption way, it reliably hides the existence of secret information. As a new means of secure communication in network environment, digital steganography that network covert communication technology research in the academic and business circles are generally concerned about. Because the image is the most common type of network data, its own characteristics (data redundancy and statistical redundancy) is well suited to be the carrier, and image product is in urgent need of identification and protection of property rights, so the information hiding technology which takes the image as the carrier is a research key in this domain, especially in the domain of military affairs and national security which have urgent requirements on the confidentiality and security of information.In this paper, after studying the basic concept and basic theory of image information hiding technology, we proposed a novel image steganography method. By exploring the block correlation between the cover-image and the secret-image, and then the relevant information will be embedded into the stego-image by the method of Modulus function, the hiding of the secret image is completed, the stego-image quality can be greatly improved.In the embedding process, first the cover-image and the secret-image are divided into blocks, the best match cover-image block of the secret-image block is first selected. Then, the error-matrix,the normalized-error-matrix, the difference-degree and the quantized-error-matrix between the cover-image block and the secret-image block are computed. After that, the cover-image block is modified; the block header information is embedded into the cover-image by the simple Modulus function method. Experimental results show that our method provides a relatively good quality stego-image and the embedded secret-image can be completely recovered.In the extraction process, the block header information is first extracted. The secret-image block is then obtained. Finally, the secret-image can be recovered by extracting all the secret-image blocks. Experimental results show that our method provides a relatively good quality stego-image and the embedded secret-image can be completely recovered.
