With the continuously development of the network technology, the reduction in real-world impact of any given network innovation is because the enormous installed base of equipment and protocols. OpenFlow is proposed as a new experiment technology for enabling innovation in network in recent years, which is based on flow classification. We study the algorithm of packet classification in this paper, which qua the kernel technology of OpenFlow. In addition, we make an analysis on the technology of managing and updating the multidimensional flow table in the application of deep packet classification.Traditional parallel methods always incur excessive redundancy and high power consumption, restricted by the slow improvement of TCAM accessing time. In this paper, we stduy the exploitation of multiple TCAM chips' parallel application and propose a chips' level parallel solution for packet classification.The main contributions of this dissertation include three points.1. We study the OpenFlow technology. In allusion to the characteristic of OpenFlow's structure and function, we propose a switch model for OpenFlow--Centralization Management Switch.2. In allusion to the need of TCAM-based algorithm for deep packet classification, we propose a performance evaluating model for multidimensional flow table. Besides, 4 kinds of pivotal technology are proposed for multidimensional flow table's storage, management and updating. In the end, we propose a TCAM-based classification enfine solution using pipelining and parallel technology, through which we can improve the classification engine's speed, as well as the power consumption.3. We implement the Centralization Management Switch by using FPGA technology, of which we make an applification in the solution of IPSec protocol acceleration. Theoretic analyse and experiment have proved that this solution can accelerate the rate of IPSec protocol processing remarkably.In a word, we conduct a lot of study into the design of TCAM-based packet classification engine. And our achievement makes real sense in exploiting the OpenFlow-based technology, which is to experiment with new network protocols.
