| With the development of computer networks and the increasing bandwidth of backbone links, the performance of analysis equipments such as intrusion detection systems and content audit systems, can not meet the demands of the growing link bandwidth. To develop higher-performance analysis equipments would take a long time and it is difficult to break through the ceiling of single equipment's computing capacity bottlenecks. One solution to the problem is distributing the network traffic to a number of parallel processing analysis equipments with traffic-distributing equipment.This thesis discussed the development and status of load balancing technology, and summed up the type of load balancing technology, as well as its achieving method in various fields of application. The main contents of the paper are as follows.(1) A historical traffic based dynamic load balancing algorithm for the characteristics of network traffic was proposed. The algorithm adjusted traffic which allocated to the traffic analysis nodes accurately based on the historical traffic information, to achieve a balanced stability among the analysis nodes. The algorithm ensures the "same flow to same destination" principle and has a short adjustment time, good stability, and other advantages.(2) An application-level load balancing model was designed based on the flow characteristics of the high speed backbone links. According to the features of the increasing P2P applications' traffic proportion in the whole network traffic and the difficulties of auditing its communications, the model divided network traffic flows into the general application traffic and P2P application traffic. The model distributed the two traffics respectively with the use of certain load balancing strategies, and ensured the integrity of P2P application traffic in a single analysis node.(3) A Router load balancing management system was designed and implemented based on above researches. The system could control multiple traffic distributing devices on the backbone link for load balancing at the same time. It obtained the real-time system information and traffic flow information of the traffic distributing systems, and generate the traffic distribution strategy based on user-defined rules, and configured the router. It achieved router unified management of different manufacturers and different models.This system is applied in many departments. It has some characteristics such as good distributing effect and stability, and has a great application value. |
