The research on wirless communication channel is important to wireless communication system. As an important part of wireless communication channel model,small-scale fading channel is more valuable to the choose of wireless communication techique and the design of digital receiver.Small-scale fading channel is one of the typical time-varying channels, and it has great theoretical significance to research and simulate the signal with the propagation characteristics of the small-scale fading channel,which is also supposed to have much practicability.In this paper,a FPGA based small-scale fading channel simulator is designed and implemented based on a certain small-scale fading channel mathematic model.Firstly,this article expounds the important character of small-scale fading channel,and then establish a mathematic model,introduce some typical parameters. Then,multipath effect and the Doppler effect of wireless channel have been studied and simulated based on the Matlab.And through the simulation,the model and arithmetic will be proved right and suitable.Finally, based on concerned channel model, provided the implementation program of a FPGA-based programmable small-scale fading channel simulator and the key technology and implementation methods have been analyzed. The channel simulator can give a real-time simulation of small-scale fading channel, such as multipath delay, the Doppler frequency shift, and so on. The simulator has a simple hardware structure with high universality; it can be sutiable for the analysis and reaearch on various small-scale fading channel..It also can be used to analyze and determine the character and parameters of an unkown communication environment.
