Infrared object detection is one of the key techniques in infrared automated recognition and the foundation of target recognition and tracking. Here we studied techniques to detect dim intimidatory targets in low-altitude under infrared complicated background for the demand to fight against terrorist weapons, under the worldwide and national anti-terrorism situation and anti-terrorism function of the armed police, and conduct the related projective realization.This study first discussed and analyzed the infrared image background, targets and noises related appearance based on infrared images maths models of low attitude dim targets under complicated background, then summarized the principles of detecting dim targets in low attitude under infrared complicated background and fixed on the primary projective thoughts after systems model analysis. Then this study focused on qualitative and quantitative analysis of several typical background elimination algorithms. Combined with projective application, this study set background elimination algorithm based on self-adaptive Wiener filtering as the most compatible application strategy. Moreover, combined with model algorithm design, this study have analysed the advantages and disadvantages of present project applications, and applied FPGA design to image background elimination models based on self-adaptive wiener filtering and potential target extraction models based on maximum likelihood ratio, then conduct research and emulational analysis for summator, multiplier and divider respectively, as well as experimental validation and test for model functions. As the results showed, the achieved hardware have satisfied system functions and projective requirement, and could supply hardware design foundation to apply dim targets detection systems in the future.This study further applied connection adjusting and field test of the designed and other model systems in projective practice, then passed the check and applied them to security guard in some large-scale events.
