In recent years, by the expand and request of equipment useful for civilian and military purposes of modern society, classification and tracking technique of the moving object has become a very important technique of modern information processing domain. And also play an important role in many other domains. But these algorithms are not useful for applications and can't meet the demand of the application.The thesis compendium a method of image processing system based on PC. The object tracking has two extrude feature. One is the calculated amount is too intensive, and the other is the request of the processing speed demanding. Traditionally, the realization of the moving object tracking technique is based on PC. But the traditional moving object tracking technique can't meet the demand of the application any more for the quick process of the industry application.The thesis significant an object tracking solution based on ARM embedded platform. It dealt with the combine of the object tracking and embedded platform, and detailed the design ideal and method. It analyzed the function and the whole system firstly, and then analyzed the main problem of the embedded platform used for object tracking solution, which including the necessity of the use of the embedded platform, the design of the system frame and the option of the embedded processor and the operation system. And the thesis complete the design of the system based on the design of the whole system, including the design of the hardware and software platform, the design of the BootLoader, the custom of the kernel of Linux, the design of the driver of the USB camera and the set up of the OpenCV vision bank. It finally analyzed the process of the object tracking, the realization of the movement detecting using background finite difference method, extracted the feature of the pedestrian and realized the tracking of the moving object using Mean-Shift algorithm.The use the object tracking system based on embedded platform is potentially huge, and it needs further study and research. The thesis summarized and prospected the research finally and significant the direction of the study in the future.
