Analysis And Accomplishment Of Several Methods Of Access Control In Enterprise Search System

Enterprise search system is different to internet search engine. Major goal of it is to provide a uniform search service base on information inside enterprise. Xinhua multimedia database is a typical enterprise search system. It achieves access control by filtering the classified condition and enhance search performance by many methods. We find some key problems of building enterprise search system by Xinhua multimedia database, one important is choosing the access control method.The main access control methods of enterprise search system include determining by source application, classified condition filter, result set filter, and search condition extend. In real application scenarios, we lack of an effective way to gauge these methods and help us to choose the most suitable one.This paper sets several classical scenarios of enterprise search system, and points out three main external factors, that will influence system's behavior mostly. They are the type of search condition, the size of search result set, and the ratio of grant. Base on features of these methods of access control, consider of three main influence factors, we design and accomplish a set of benchmark testing programs. This set of benchmark testing programs was built in the frame of enterprise search system. When a method of access control was accomplished, it can be embedded into the frame. We can simulate the varied of external factors by tuning the parameters of benchmark. In this way, we can observe behavior of the methods caused by adjusting the factors.After we get the result data of testing, by analyzing and comparing, we find the relationship between the external factors and real effect of these methods. Then we point out several principles, which should be followed when we choose the method of access control in enterprise search system. Finally, base on the principles we pointed out, we supply recommendable methods for the classical scenarios we described in the begin of this paper.
