Analysis And Design Of The Order Approval & Management System Based On RDBMS

Workflow technology plays an important role in the development of critical business applications. According to the analysis of GE Healthcare China's requirements to develop an important application for sales business, this paper, adopting Workflow technology proposes an Order Approval & Management System based on Oracle RDBMS.The Order Approval & Management System consists of 2 sub-systems, namely: Order Approval sub-System and Business Process Management sub-System. The former is responsible for order entry and approval while the later is responsible for business process defining, updating and executing with the requests from process applications.How to design the models of user authorization, process definition and process update, using relationship concept, this paper gives a thorough discussion and also provides a detailed functional presentation and ER models.This paper does not peruse a completed but complicated Workflow Engine, instead, presents a RDBMS-based lightweight Process Execution Server which is sufficient, flexible and cost-efficient. The Process Execution Server is built following the reference model of Workflow Engine proposed by WFMC. After full discussion, this paper sets forth the principles and ways to implement the Process Execution Server, with key stored procedures. This Process Execution Server proves to be helpful on shortening the cycle time of the development of critical business applications. Moreover, the Order Approval & Management System is built over B/S architecture.
