Research For Testing Of Windows Update On Windows Vista

Microsoft Windows Vista is the newest generation of Windows Operating Systems. It has much difference with previous ones. Microsoft Windows Update is the important security software for Windows Operating Systems. The research for testing its functions is significant.First the related basic knowledge is introduced such as the general information of Windows Vista, the comparison between Windows Vista and previous Windows Operating Systems, the conception, classification and release channel of Windows Update. The similarities and differences of Windows Update upon Windows Vista and previous Windows Operating Systems are presented. Based on the definition of testing frame and testing purpose, the template of test case for Manual Testing is created and the Automatic Testing tools and their principles are grasped. The Test Cases are written for Manual Testing. The testing environment is set up and the test cases are executed. Test result is reported after the Bugs is verified and closed. When all the test tasks are finished, the final report is given.The characteristic and the usage range of Manual Testing and Automatic Testing are respectively studied. The Automatic Testing is preparing to replace Manual Testing wholely or partially. It can also increase testers' abilities for executing testing. With the research on the format, the content and the efficency of Bugs, testers can improve the ability of filing Bugs.
