Nowadays the improving needs of Internet users for the video and audio information promote the Ethernet transmission rate rapidly rising, high-frequency effect (return loss, crosstalk, etc.) throughout the transmission link has been reflected obviously. As the connector using in Ethernet, Modular Jack greatly affect the performance of the entire link. This article focuses on the design of CAT-6 and CAT-7 Modular Jack which is used in the highest frequency transmission of Ethernet, analyzing and elaborating the technical elements and design methods, mainly from the impedance matching, crosstalk elimination and the contact area design. It is in the respect of impedance matching that focused on the design and layout of differential alignment; it is in the respect of crosstalk elimination that researched into the generation and elimination of capacitive crosstalk, inductive crosstalk, alien crosstalk in Modular Jack; it is in the respect of the contact area design that optimized and improved the structure of general application to increase the contact pressure; At the same time, the compatibility of different types of plugs is considered, then integrating the main points of several aspects to complete the design.During the design process, it is choosing the computer electromagnetic simulation software and setting up simulation model to verify the conclusion; in accordance with international standards, it is choosing the test apparatus and testing of sample Modular Jack to verify the feasibility of the design in its experimental testing process.
