The Study Of Personal Knowledge Management Platform Based On P2P Technology

The knowledge management (KM) is a present hot topic of academe. Personal knowledge management (PKM) is the individual applications of knowledge management on concepts and methods, which is a scientific method to manage personal knowledge effectively. The implementation of personal knowledge management is request on individual, including factors: knowledge-based economy, knowledge explosion, time and so on, which is also a challenge request on network learning environment, learning styles, learning patterns of individual.At present, the existed knowledge management tools and platform are classified into two main categories on the point of development model: C/S mode and B/S mode. The main knowledge management tools of C/S mode are desktop-based, while blog, tag and social bookmarks so on are of B/S mode, but these tools or platform are lacks of function, integrity, cooperation, as well as instant messaging, no matter what kind of model doesn't make full use of the server or client resources. The thesis introduces Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology into personal knowledge management platform to make use of the resources on server or client and promote the exchanges on knowledge-sharing among individuals, as well as strengthening the relationships of individuals and groups under the environment of network community.Theoretically, seven personal knowledge management models proposed by Professor Paul A. Dorsey are the original version. In the thesis, the fusion viewpoint of PKM, network community and P2P technology is constructed; the architecture of personal knowledge management platform based on P2P technology is proposed; incentive mechanism about tacit knowledge shifting, knowledge sharing mechanism and managerial technique are also realized, which is to provide theory basis and practical instruction of carrying out personal knowledge management under the network condition.In practice, JXTA technology is adopted to develop the platform; Java is the developing language of real-time communication system, which consists of instant message XChat and file transfer XFile, in order to realize knowledge sharing among individuals and collaborative communication. Meanwhile, using VB.net programming language of Asp.net 2.0 framework, SQL Sever as database, combined with the open-source software, integrated with Web 2.0 idea to develop a prototype platform of individual knowledge library management system. Through tag's sociality function as knowledge map, a fully functional, individuation, easy to accumulate and share prototype system of individual knowledge library management is designed and developed.Work and contribution is summarized at the end of the thesis, and insufficiency is also discussed. Moreover, further work of the study is prospected.
