Drilling engineering is the work that using drilling rigs or drilling tool to drill borehole (well) in the crustal rocks, remove the rock and mineral samples (such as rock core, liquid, oil and gas layer-like or rock / powder) in order to meet the requirement of geological exploration and construction project. This drilling process is referred as drilling. Usually the drilling work that taking out of the rock (ore) core in the earth crust is known as core drilling. Drilling work (hardly take core) for the exploitation of underground deposit, such as petroleum, natural gas, brine and other useful liquid or gas mineral is called drilling engineering. Drilling engineering is one of the main methods to get the direct and factual geological data. It is an important and indispensable aspect in the geological exploration, and the data obtained in which is an important basis for making a final correct evaluation about mineral resources. Drilling engineering occupies an important position in national economic construction development. In recent years, the driver must have necessary knowledge and experience to operate the drilling rigs, because of the hydraulic drilling rig and the invisible complex underground circumstance. Senior and unskilled operators are incompetent. Currently, MWD technology develops very quickly, but is mainly used in the oil and gas exploration or drilling equipment. The application of small drilling equipment that used in geotechnical engineering has not yet universal. With the rapid development and extensive use of embedded systems, we can embed microcontroller in geotechnical engineering exploration drilling rig and set up MWD system which is beneficial to the development of geotechnical engineering.According to these situations, this paper introduced a MWD system that used in geotechnical engineering exploration rig. The system based on the 89S51 MCU. It consisted of the terminal control and the mast control. The terminal sent sampling data (such as WOB, torque, temperature, ect) to the mast by wireless transmission. The mast control showed the data through a 12864 LCD in real-time. It will help rig operators keep abreast of geological conditions and design a reasonable drilling program. |
